last day

Kaffeeklatsch with the delightful [livejournal.com profile] gardenprophet, who finally explained to me the history of Yaoi in Japan. Then did THOMAS THE RHYMER performance - since so many Japanese fans were there (holding their out-of-print Hayakawa paperbacks of it), I cut a lot of the reading and just did the songs. Happiness all 'round. I even got everyone to sing "Wild Mountain Thyme" with me at the end. And someone has given me a little pink bear with a kimono. It's a Beany Baby called "Sakura," and my benefactor made the little kimono herself. One step closer to the dread Kawaii-head? Maybe. But I am utterly charmed - as much by the spirit of the giver as anything, and I treasure it.

Being a Hugo presenter was tons of fun. I just answered some questions for Jeff VanderMeer for his Amazon column(?) - I'll send the link when I get it.

We had dinner last night at a nice Indonesian place - called, of course, Surabaya. Hate to leave the cosmopolitan charms of Yokohama - not to mention the utter bliss of Hotel Pan Pacific - but the open road is calling. On to Niigata & Sado Island!

Ooh! Sado Island! It's the home of the amazing Kodo drummers!

Fun presentation of Thomas the Rhymer; how was the dobro?! I've wanted a dobro for years but wouldn't make good use of it, I know-- *sigh* Have a great time.

*waves* The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] alitalf tells me that you have signed a copy of TPotS for me! Thank you so much :D. I wish I could be over there myself, but I'm glad to hear that you are having such a good time!
