...but the question is, what was Betty Ballantine wearing? I ask because I saw her accept a lifetime award at Worldcon in 2005, where she wore a splendid long gold dress that I think was probably the Platonic Ideal of award-occasion clothing. It would have looked at home at the Oscars, and it looked entirely at home on her too.
