damascene, and have found, in the ms. of my short story "The Death of the Duke" [originally published in pnh's Starlight 2; most recently reprinted in the Bantam/Spectra edition of Swordspoint], the following note written in the margin:

This is a remarkable album of lute music which I highly recommend, whether you liked the story or not.
