[livejournal.com profile] yaoi_in_exile has just made me the coolest TPOTS present ever (yes, that is a candlestick).

Be super-nice to her, and maybe she'll make you one, too (or at least give you the recipe)!

That is amazing.

Related question: What are the colors and emblem of House Tremontaine? I seem to recall green and swans, is that correct?

You recall right: green and gold, and something about swans and ducal coronets - check out the fireworks/barge scene in SWORDSPOINT, and I think there's more regalia later at the theatre.

That's why green and gold were major colors. :3 *superresearcher*

By Col. Mustard, in the Conservatory? Hmm, just like there are special editions of Monopoly for London and smaller burgs, we could have a special TPOTS edition of Clue. The weapons could include the innuendo, the conspiracy, and the whispering campaign, as well as the more traditional ones. Secret passages under the courtyard of the Hall of Justice and from Riverside to the House Tremontaine.

That's beautiful needlework. I'm so glad you have a blog, Ms. Kushner! Neil Gaiman recommended TPOS and I remembered Cassandra Claire doing the same with Swordspoint, then my roommate forced Swordspoint upon me. They are so excellent-- in one week I've read both (well, I'm almost done with TPOS, I'll finish it tonight) and now have to find Fall of Kings. I saw that they're re-printing it-- good timing on my part, I suppose.

I have now forced Swordspoint onto my friend-- hopefully it'll spread from her as well. Thanks for writing such great books, I was so depressed I'd have nothing to read once I finished Discworld... ^_^

Why do I suspect that the swan is gorged of a ducal coronet? (Don't mind me. I'm being a heraldry geek. Means it's wearing it around its neck.)

Although with Alec saying "don't you see the ducal coronet all over everything," either it's a green ground semy of ducal coronets or it's a decorative crest over the arms proper, which gets repeated a lot.

Why did I not notice any regalia at the theater? Perhaps I was too distracted by chocolate pots.

Or perhaps I forgot to mention it! Believe me, it's there. Drapery hanging off the front of the box, I think.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Drapery like bunting, or like theater curtains? A banner hanging off the front of the box makes the most sense -- why would you want to curtain out the play, after all?

Yes! Yes! Bunting! Precisely!

*grin* I love it when you do that.

Are you going to be at Arisia this year? I have to know whether to bring Little Iced Cakes.

I feel like total WimpGirl, but we are so burnt out with traveling that we are not coming to Arisia, even though I would like to be there. But hold those Cakes!

In an effort to keep my hours and thus my paycheck at a reasonable level during the post-Christmas slowdown at work, I've suggested to Chef that *I* should produce the Little Iced Cakes and sundry goodies that they use for catered-dinner desserts, instead of them bringing them in from an outside supplier, so I'm going to be going into production mode on them in about five days. (I'm also seeing if my holiday-butter-cookie-dough lends itself to wee cookie cups to hold lemon curd and pecan pie goodness and so on.) So fear not, there will be Cakes.

I have to see if I can make my own fondant for the icing or if I'm going to have to break down and get it ordered in. :)

Generally, visits to New York involve concerts for bands that aren't coming to Hartford; on the other hand, a friend of mine has acquired a regular DJ engagement for a night that, IIRC, is actually on a weekend, so if I check the scheduled dates for THAT...

Let me get back to you after New Year's?
