From the little English village that brought you Brian & Wendy Froud, Alan Lee, Terri Windling & other fantastical delights - comes Daughters of Elvin: Medieval Music & Dance Theater! They have a new album, Galdrbok: Medieval Songs of Love and Enchantment, and are considering a U.S. tour. Their director asked me to suggest some venues across the U.S., and while it's the sort of thing I ought to know, I'm afraid I don't, really. If you know of or are associated with any kind of venue that would be interested, please contact them. You can see amazing photos of their live performances (complete with dancing & masks) and hear clips from their new album on their MySpace page. If you have any suggestions, please write to them directly there. And of course, you can buy the new album, too!
To give you the flavor - there are 7 performers, led by:
KATY MARCHANT: Director, bagpipes, pipe and salterio, recorders, mask-maker
STEVE TYLER: Hurdy gurdy, gothic harp, citole
DHEVDHAS NAIR: Percussion, hammered dulcimer

...Just to make sure...that wouldn't be the same as Steve-N Tyler, would it? :D

Actually, it was sort of interesting to see what ideas you did have - I learned something - so, Folks: please feel free to post them here *and* write to Katy! What I'm trying to avoid is a conversation here that she can't actually take part in. But maybe I worry too much.

And thank you very much for your generous suggestions!

Oh, a new album? I saw them open for the Medieval Baebes about three ago. I'd seen the Baebes before, and I thought this performance was rather lack-lustre for them. Daughters of Elvin far outperformed them. I've not been able to catch them live since, but this post has reminded me I need to check their website. (I'm in Hampshire, England.)

Wow for Tom Brady. You know you're big when you make headlines on MSN. --> http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7705996?MSNHPHCP>1=10838

Hilarious - of course NYC media is obsessed with Tom Brady right now, as he will be quarterbacking against the Giants in the playoffs. Yesterday's tabloid NYPost actually showed a photo of him carrying flowers for his girlfriend, headlined "TOM BRADY: GIRLY-MAN!" The fact that it was here in Greenwich Village is what makes it funny: I mean, here he is, disporting himself behind Enemy Lines... They're also carefully watching to see if he's showing any injuries.

The very best part of it was the caption right below him read "10 New Sex Tips For Him". >3 *cackle*

Oh, now, I'm sure plenty of Enemy Liners were happy to see him. I mean, any cute intellectual who parades around in spandex is a sight *anyone* would be happy to see.
