the view from here
Aug. 12th, 2007 10:39 pmAs I feared, being home takes some getting used to. And Delia's been smitten with a miserable cold. She says she'll feel much better tomorrow, and who am I to argue? I'll just go on making tea until she tells me to stop.
So I know I owe a whole ton of trip narrative, but meanwhile here's some late-breaking news:
• Anne Groell tells me Bantam is going back to press already on the mass market paperback TPOTS - yay!
• GreenManReview has the distinction of being the first to post an online review of The Golden Dreydl - though Charlesbridge has now released the very nice one from Booklist (and you can also download several chapters on the Charlesbridge page, plus hear some of Shirim's music that inspired the project) - though I gotta ask: Booklist reviewer, what's with the "beautiful enchanted princess"? I know you read the book, cause it's not all that long - the Dreydl Princess is a kid, a kid with frizzy untameable hair & manners to match! A slip of the cliche, perhaps?
* I just signed a contract for the Japanese editions of all three Riverside novels with Hayakawa! They did do Swordspoint many years back (with a superduper cover), but they're going to reprint it with the short stories this time. Loud cheers. And the German publisher (whose contract I also signed - lots of mail waiting on the diningroom table! - is paying me in Euros, which suddenly makes the ghastly exchange rate, such a blow if one plans to travel, just that little bit less appalling. Baby needs a new pair o' shoes.)
Now if only my desk weren't such a disaster . . . . And I miss cafeteria food. It's there 3x/day, and someone else has cut up all the vegetables. (If you ever invite me to a party, just don't ask me to bring the salad, OK?)
