I was so chuffed yesterday to be included in the great Paul Cornell's "12 Days of Christmas" blogpost, Ten Things by Friends! He said lovely things about the new Swordspoint audiobook - and, being Paul, I think he really meant them.
I wish I were as nice, and ahem organized and disciplined a person as Paul is - if I were, I would do such a list myself. As is, I'm stealing time from things I promised Delia I'd do around the house, and contracts I've forgotten to print out and mail, and cards I've got half-addressed on the diningroom table and . . . well, you get the idea - to just throw a couple of Giftie notes up before I forget and the holidays are over:
We just lit the first Chanukah candle. And the Chanukah Fairy had visited, and left a pile of mysterious prezzies next to the menorah (which I know is actually supposed to be called a chanukiah - o, this New Learning - in my day we called it a menorah and liked it!) . . . . We each opened one. Who knows what the 8 days will bring? But if you're hurting for a giftie for the 8th day, may I not-so-humbly recommend the feminist/shtetl/historical/musical audiodrama I wrote with Yale Strom & Elizabeth Schwartz? It's called THE WITCHES OF LUBLIN, and while it nominally takes place at Passover, it's really for all seasons. The CD (and the Limited Edition 2-CD-with-extra music set!) are for sale here on our Witches website - and the long version is also now up on Audible.com for download. It stars Tovah Feldshuh, Simon Jones, Barbara Rosenblat, Neil Gaiman(!) and a host of amazing NYC actors. -- A Gold Doubloon to whoever can figure out who the divine Nick Sullivan - who nails Lord Ferris in Swordspoint - plays in Lublin. Me, I never would have recognized him! It was also named one of AudioFile's top multi-voice productions of 2011 (along with American Gods) -- how cool is that??
I've also got a kids' book, THE GOLDEN DREYDL, now out in paperback - and the original CD, as well - both availlable commercially (like, ah, Amazon & any bookstores that are still standing; of music stores, what is left?:(
There's a cool new blog called FANTASY MATTERS - and they have very charmingly declared this to be DELIA SHERMAN WEEK. So go on over, read what they have to say, comment to let them know you agree that it does, and keep an eye on what they do next!
Of course, it's always Delia Sherman Week on Puggy's Hill.
If you somehow missed the sequel to
deliasherman 's first New York Between novel, CHANGELING, it is now out of print (and not in paperback, though it is on Kindle/eBook), our friend Mike Walsh of Old Earth Books (which also just reprinted Keith Robert's earthshaking PAVANE! buy it!) has a number of signed copies of THE MAGIC MIRROR OF THE MERMAID QUEEN for sale online here.
And if you'd like a signed copy of her brilliant new THE FREEDOM MAZE, they are in stock (pre-signed) at the wonderful Books of Wonder, here.
I also wanted to thank everyone again so very, very much for all you did to make
magick4terri such a success. Terri is so happy - it just shines in every post and note she writes! And if you didn't win your auction, do remember that most of the items donated are things that are also sold commercially by the donors - just click on the link at the top of each item, if there is one.
This includes our dear Endicott West, the artists' retreat in Tucson that Delia & I created with Terri. An informal - or, as one friend calls it, a "speakeasy" - retreat, supported by donations from folks who like to stay there and get work done (or just re-fill the creative well in the peace of the desert), we just ask that you chip in what you can. Because we are not a commercial operation, we ask that you not post this info anywhere else online. But do feel free to go browse the EWest website, and see if it might be for you this year.
There was some other stuff, but I forget.
May all your candles burn bright.
