It worked! I opened "The Duke of Riverside" and read, and . . . in the words of a French designer we met in Paris, Marie Chaumette, a delightful woman with whom we exchanged parallel tales of creative angst: Ça ne pue presque pas! (It hardly stinks at all).
It was all those good wishes coming from all of you, I am sure of it. What a swell birthday it was! (Did everyone see my awesome card from
yaoi_in_exile? The handmade ones are always the best.)
My director also approved my latest Klezmer Nutcracker draft (phew!!!!). I go to further revise the short story now - it's about 6,000 words (also phew!!, as the anthology I'm submitting to is asking for shorter works).
Here are some much better photos of me &
conteurlisa's cake, taken by the divine
sarahwriter, who was visiting from Boston so that we could meet to workshop her play . . . .

Date: 2008-10-08 08:53 am (UTC)Being a traditionalist, I wanted to wait until the actual birthday date to wish you a happy birthday. Except I blanked out on the fact that you crazy Americans write your dates backwards, and I focused on the "10", instead of the "6". So I was blithely waiting for the 10th of October to come along (slightly wondering at all those silly people who wished you a happy birthday so early).
Harumpf.

If there's ever any sort of recording, please let us know. My sister (the big honking atheist) and I (and equally honking Bapitst, with a little, wee pagan inside*) love giving each other klezmer CDs for Christmas.
