Cycles: a New Year's Gift for You
Jan. 6th, 2010 04:14 pmWGBH (89.7 fm Boston & wgbh.org) is re-running the New Year's radio show I made:
Sound & Spirit for the week of Jan. 3, 2010: Cycles
As the calendar turns, many of us pause to reflect on the patterns that shape our year and our lives. Ellen Kushner examines the various passages in human life that mark significant changes, and how they are observed and celebrated in poetry, legend and music.

Date: 2010-01-06 09:50 pm (UTC)I'm listening to your programme just now. You have a very beautiful voice. However, I was curious to know if you consciously modulate it for radio, and if so, how much? I don't know much about radio presenters and how they sound normally versus on the air, so it's just plain curiosity.
Lastly, during genealogical research a few years ago, I was reading a marriage or birth certificate for one of my ancestors (Glasgow, Scotland), and it described their father as a bell banger - this was at the end of a couple of things relating to metal work. I assumed he made bells, but maybe I was wrong. Anyway, it's a beautiful programme, with lovely music.
