Oh, and another thing that will CHEW through your battery life is viewing websites that use Flash. I'm told that this is true even if the site in question is not in the foreground (I usually have many tabs and several windows open). I haven't done any formal testing to see how large this affect is; certainly in combination with the top cover problem, it was eating my battery.
