Thank you!
Jun. 10th, 2010 01:59 pmThank you, all anthropologists & friends, for your generous & genuinely fascinating information pertaining to last night's question. I think I've got it now - well enough to realize that my anthropologist is going to have to be the Romantic Interest rather than the viewpoint character, as (a) I only have a few days to write this story, so (b) had better not risk sounding like a moron. --That said, I now know very well who to check in with if I have a specific question, or need something vetted! You may not have heard the last of me . . . .
Meanwhile, if you'd like to know more about Bordertown elves & their milieus, I most heartily recommend Emma Bull's novel Finder, Will Shetterly's Elsewhere and Never Never, and the shared world anthology The Essential Bordertown (edited by series creator Terri Windling & our own
deliasherman , with stories by many fine folk including me).
The brand-new Bordertown anthology, Welcome to Bordertown, is scheduled for Summer 2011 from Random House, edited by Holly Black & me, with introductions by Holly & Terri, and stories by Many Fine Folk to be announced quite soon.
