Your comments on my previous post about our Mexican writing retreat (with 8 other people) made me laugh (where appropriate), feel happy, and generally enjoy having you all in my Virtual Salon here.

Here is a wonderful article about the guy here who made my magical rings, David Godinez.  (Backstory:  All my life I've wanted to wear massive rings - the kind that yell "Renaissance Prince!"  The kind that imply "Mess with me and I'll have your house burnt" or simply "Kiss me, you fool."  But every time I've tried them on, they just look overwhelming and ill-placed on my hands.  [Oddly, Delia, who has even more delicate bones than I do, can wear big rings much better than I.  Must have to do with proportion.]  So when I found first one and then the other in Godinez' shop, I was sooo happy!)

Here is that fountain in the courtyard:

And here is the view from our house's rooftop - which is, alone, bigger than my apartment:

I hope all these bright colors & sunlight have served to cheer you.  I hear it's pretty gloomy up north, where I will be returning on Monday.  BUT I am glad to say that I have made some progress on the novel.  I'm not at all sure I hate it or that it will be a total disaster, after all.

What an exciting post. I was wondering when I read your last post if it was San Miguel de Allende where you were staying. (I lived in Mexico City for several years and know the country pretty well.) Lovely pictures and what a wonderful place to write. And a novel, of course, is fabulous news. Those rings are fantastic. I love big rings myself. Always have.

Ooo! Love the rings!

The colors in Mexico are just divine, aren't they?

My mother loved large, gaudy, attention-grabbing rings. I never saw her with fewer than three rings on, often more. She would have liked those designs very much.

I love them, too, but can't wear them, or really wear rings of any kind. They just don't look good on my hands. But I love to admire them!

Those are some fantastic rings!

And those pictures are very lovely and yes, cheerful. I love the flowers, and the pink and salmon colors!

The colours in the second photo are just gorgeous! But what struck me is that I remember seeing a photo of the fountain in a courtyard quite similar to this one a while back. And lo, while checking my flist, I saw that Holly Black has uploaded a picture in her LJ some time ago. It looks like such a lovely place. *sighs*

I want to step into that fountain picture and just bask. We aren't having the horrible winter others are but Oregon in February is not for the faint of heart. (When the 2 year old Golden looks at you like you've lost your mind for asking if she needs to go outside it's not a good sign.)

Okay. So, I was sort of a tiny bit jealous after seeing the last pictures, but these? :drools: The colors!!!! *cries* (And the rings are rather fab too!)

It was -13 last night. That sun looks pretty good right now.

What a lovely view! And bougainvilleas! (at least, that's what they look like. *g*) They're one of the things I really miss about Phoenix.

I do not envy you hot, dry weather (ugh) but the site looks lovely, and I am so very glad you're noveling!

You have good eyes!

And you should believe everything Holly says about writing retreats in the post before that one.

Not expensive, either! Nothing here is. It's a bit shocking - especially after New York.

It is absurdly cool & comfy in the many shady bits of our palazzo - the entire congregation migrates piece by piece into them throughout the day . . . But dry - oh, my, yes! Took me days to figure out how to hydrate enough inside & out not to feel like a mummy queen.

Perhaps someday you will find Your Rings. They may not be what you're expecting....

Lovely rings! They invite kneeling and kissing, as when meeting the Pope! :-)

Love these posts. Makes me feel like I'm hearing your voice. And seeing Delia was extra-nice :)

Have no brain for responding with content though.
