So much Spam on LJ these days!
Jul. 12th, 2011 10:22 amBut every time I think I'll reset to "LJ-named users only" (there is such a setting, isn't there??) I get spam on an old post I'd completely forgotten that is great to see again - like this one with Hayakawa's Japanese covers from 2008 for Swordspoint (#2 - the original's here [ETA: bottom of page, 2nd from right], and is my favorite) and The Privilege of the Sword !
BTW, if I didn't properly thank you all for the comments to that one, especially the translations of the Japanese descriptions of the book -- please let me take the opportunity to do so now! My grasp of Netiquette can be a little vague - we're not really expected to reply to every single comment, are we?? - but please rest assured that I read every single one, and that with the greatest of pleasure.
I think that one is my #1 for spam these days, closely followed by the entire prologue to Liz Duffy Adams' Or, - what a joy to rediscover that one! And look! Here's my description of the crazyweek (on my birthday, 10/6/08) when I was finishing "The Duke of Riverside" - which finally just appeared in print last week (in Ellen Datlow's Naked City - No, publishing is not for the Instant Gratification crowd...)!
So thank you, SpamBots, for these little Trips Down Memory Lane. And for letting me know that I can "recant potential around the attraction of [my] special," too.

Date: 2011-07-12 03:57 pm (UTC)That may be what I have already - though I always just hit DELETE THE COMMENT and it does -but if I don't have to go through that step, woudl be nice.

Click on the Privacy tab.
Enable Comments [Allow Comments from Everybody]
Comment Screening Screen [Comments from non-Friends] before displaying them to others. You're popular enough that you might want this to be [Anonymous Comments] instead, although this does mean getting spam commenters.
Spam Protection [Turn it off, as it's mostly harmful]
I usually delete my spam too, but I don't technically -have- to (I mostly do so as a public good; deleting spam makes it easier for lj to find spammers and remove them); anything I don't unscreen (which will include some amount of legit responses that I unscreen) doesn't appear to anyone except me.

Date: 2011-07-12 09:19 pm (UTC)Ellen I beg you, settle two age-old fandom questions (which I just made up):
1) How long is Richard's hair?
2) Does he wear those thigh-boots on a regular basis?

Date: 2011-07-13 01:18 am (UTC)2) Not really: thigh-highs are for riding, not walking. Usually his boots fold just below his knees. But we're free to dream otherwise.
BTW: There's lots of Swordspoint trivia, covers, etc. if you click on my "Riverside" tag.

Date: 2011-07-13 05:17 pm (UTC)Um, no, I don't have a page of my own for Fan Art. Is there a way to make that happen (that doesn't involved me having to do anything, um, hard)?
