Hugo (Cabret)
Dec. 25th, 2011 12:09 amSo Delia & I went to see Scorsese's HUGO tonight.* And guess which bit made me utterly lose my sh*t?
Yep. When he burns his entire oeuvre. I cling to Delia, nearly shaking.
Shows you where my emotional core lies. I mean: Movie Death? Loss of Love? OK, maybe a few gentle tears, but . . . . This was almost unbearable.
*You will, I hope, find it utterly adorable that Going to the Movies is this Giant Special Treat that is reserved for only the most special of occasions. This is because movies are unbelieeeevably expensive in NYC - and because there is so much else to do here. Delia gets a bit blue around the holidays, so going to the movies is the Wild and Crazy thing we do to distract her. Tomorrow we're going to IFC's Miyazaki Festival to see our beloved PORCO ROSSO on the big screen. Wild & crazy kids. (And, yes, then we're going to eat Chinese food. I don't think we've ever actually done that before [in that order, on that day, I mean] - but rituals exist for a reason, y'know.)
