Be Careful What You Wish For . . .
Jun. 29th, 2007 09:04 pm. . . . you might just have to wake up early to get it.
Off to Spain tom'w (w/o computer), so you probably won't be hearing from me for awhile. We arrive in Barcelona at 8 Sunday morning, which will be 3 a.m. in the life we just left. The next morning the fun begins; my publisher wrote today with the news:
It seems that on Monday morning you'll be interviewed at your hotel in Barcelona by a journalist from EFE, Spain's most important news agency. Also, a photographer from Qué Leer, a popular literary magazine, should meet you on the same day to take pictures for the "visitors" section of the next issue.
Heavens! Just what I've always dreamed of! But why did no one tell me that being famous (at last!) meant you didn't get to sleep in?
He replies:
don't worry, it won't be too early at all: the first meeting will be at 10 a.m., and the second one at 12 a.m.; apparently we've succeded in getting another interview for you with Europa Press, another press agency. This is really good news, as the cables distributed by these agencies have a good chance of appearing virtually in any Spanish newspaper (and even several South Americans ones too!)
We will be sprightly. Oh, so sprightly. And articulate. Or Else.
At least if I say anything really stupid I won't be able to read it in translation.
Here is a PDF of the Press Release that Bibliopolis sent out - you can see all 3 Spanish covers lined up for the first time together!

Date: 2007-06-30 01:46 am (UTC)1) Paris was remarkable. Remarkable. We loved it - especially seeing the Tour Eiffel at 1 am in the fog... and eating pastries in front of Notre Dame on Sunday. Amazing.
2) If not for you and your very gracious efforts, we would not have walked through some of the most charming neighborhoods we'd ever seen (or gone near the exquisite Hotel DeVille!!). The place with the book, had, apparently, misplaced the book; but Mohammed was very, very nice - and the postcard has a prized spot at my Studio.
Thank you, dear Ellen, for helping make it a wonderful visit. Enjoy Barcelona!

Date: 2007-06-30 03:01 am (UTC)"Not too early," huh? For some of us, anything before noon is early. :P
