In addition, both Delia & I have been asked to present Hugos Awards at the big ceremony on Saturday night! I usually skip the Hugos, but in this case . . . An added inducement is that it will be co-hosted by the American actor George Takei, bless him. I always loved it when he took the helm of the Enterprise. I will not, however, be renting a full-dress kimono ($200+) for the ceremony, tempting though that is. I have perfectly nice formal wear of my own, thank you - I will bring my "Teapots" silk, which I wore to the Mythcon banquet (anyone got photos?), and which packs down pretty much into a walnutshell and will pass through the center of a gold ring. Except for the buttons.

As soon as I have a few minutes (the con accounting books are almost closed), I will edit my Mythcon Photos and post them. I will put a notice in [livejournal.com profile] myth_soc when I put them up.
I seem to have gotten some nice ones of you and Delia and the sneakers. :D

Lisa, that's so lovely! Might you also please drop me a note here, as I'm a bit frantic preparing for Japan and might not see the mythsoc notice in time? Thanks!

(Oh, and don't quite close the con accounting books yet - my assistant is about to send you our receipt for cab fare to Oakland Airport.)

Geeze, $200+ is about + more than my yukata COST, and it suits me better than kimono anyway, being gaudier. :p

Also, George Takei! I missed him speak at UW a couple of years ago and I still regret it.

Gaudy? I thought yukata were always simple cotton prints. Is there a photo of this marvel...?

The site you linked to has some pretty gaudy cotton yukata...not shiny-gaudy, but GLOWING PINK WITH MULTI-COLORED FLOWERS gaudy.

I *loved* that ensemble! (no photos, sorry--) You look so elegant in it and a touch oriental, so I'm sure it will be perfect. Have FUN!!!

Oh, do have fun. George Takei was the first Star Trek actor I ever met (for, oh, ten seconds), and I have very fond memories...he dealt graciously with a socially-inept and overenthusiastic pre-teen (one imagins he has had experience).

Are you going to be at World Fantasy in Saratoga this November? I am, conveniently, a half-hour away, and have some CDs for you.

Yes; he always projected a quiet intelligence onscreen - kind of Marcus-like, really!

And YES, going to be at WFC for 2 days before I have to run to a DREYDL gig in San Diego - how absolutely wonderful that you've got those CD's! Thank you *very * much for that!
