Hot damn - I've never met anyone actually named Theron before! (I, needless to say, got it out of a book.) How do you pronounce it?

"How do you pronounce it?"

Given that I'm from the South, probably incorrectly. :-)

I pronounce it like Aaron or Darrin with a hard Th, and the emphasis on the first syllable. Given accents and laziness, something like THERE-un. I've met a few Therons in my life and we all seemed to pronounce it about the same.

(I must admit, The Fall of the Kings was one of the most difficult reads I've ever had because I'm just not used to seeing my name when I'm reading fiction. It probably took 100 pages before I stopped getting yanked out of the setting every time Theron appeared.)

Oh, yay! That's how I say it, too. I've heard "thee-ron" (hard th, but funny vowels, including an emphasis on "ron" instead of a kind of schwa) and wondered. Clearly, they were just guessing.

While we were working on the novel we went to France, and while tasting at local wineries came across a "Domaine du Théron." Needless to say, I bought the t-shirt!

I think it's a beautiful name.

*sighs at closed innuendo opportunity* X3!

That was sooooo shibby! XDDD! It sent my brother into convulsive fits, I'll have you know...

Of course, that would be Darth Vader's hobby. That and making deep-breathing prank calls. >D

Hahaha!

I once had a voice student who was a boy soprano. I was trying to make some point about having more space in his mouth, and I told him to breathe like Darth Vader. I demonstrated to show him what I meant.

"No," he replied, "Darth Vader breathes like this."

Needless to say, his own impression was better than mine. Moral of the story: Don't get into Darth Vader-breathing contests with 12 year old boys.
