More good news just in: the Golden Dreydl album (essentially a CD of our holiday radio special) has been restocked by Rykodisc, which is very good news as I thought they were going to let it die out through inattention just when the book was coming out!
So if you know kids who are too young to read the book (listed as being for readers 8-12 - though as one reviewer justly pointed out - and as we test-drove it on one eager 6-yr-old - it's a good read-aloud for slightly younger kids), who like listening to stories - with fabulous music - over and over and over . . . or if you just want to hear what it sounds like onstage - you should have no problem ordering the CD. Phew!
And the divine Amalia Hoffman (artist/designer/writer extraordinaire - you gotta see her stuff!)
just sent me a jpeg of the fall issue of the quarterly Jewish Book World containing a very nice and insightful review of GOLDEN DREYDL book, containing such pleasing sentiments as:
"The author, an established award-winning fantasy author for teens and adults, does an admirable job of combining folklore and holiday traditions with an appealing fantasy story for young readers. The delightful black and white line drawings that are sprinkled throughout the text provide further entry into the magical world that Kushner has created."
