If you knew Matt and this was the first you heard about it, I am so sorry. Here is the tribute that his mother wrote for him.
Matthew Wasser was an exceptional and wonderful young man and resident of Bernardsville, New Jersey who died tragically at 22 years of age early Sunday morning as a passenger in a car hit by a drunk driver. He was an exceptionally talented, involved and accomplished young man. He loved his family most, but was a serious musician who composed and performed on classical and electric guitar, as well as many other instruments, He graduated from Bernard’s High where he was a Madrigal and often accompanied that group as well as others. He also sang with various other groups and formed several other bands, including his own group Incaged. Following a serious injury that kept him from pursuing a career in professional music, his interests and passions moved in the direction of professional sports. He changed majors at the College of New Jersey, (where he was an honors student) and joined the Communications Department. He became involved with sports media and writing. He spent this fall and last summer working for the New York Yankees in their public relations and media group, where he was recognized an exceptionally knowledgeable and devoted Yankee media associate, often working 16 hours a day during the playoffs. He was invited by Major League Baseball (MLB) to continue as an assistant in the playoffs. He was to graduate from the College of New Jersey this fall and regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.

He is survived by his mother Marilyn Gottlieb Wasser and his father Eric Wasser, both attorneys, his beloved brother Jason Ryan Wasser and sister Stephanie Renee Wasser, plus his loved dog Sodapop. He also was exceptionally devoted to his grandparents Edward and Cecelia Wasser and his recently deceased grandparents, Harold and Margaret “Sis” Gottlieb of Ohio. He also is also survived by a dozen exceptionally devoted cousins, aunts and uncles, plus innumerable friends and colleagues.

Services will be Thursday at Temple Sholom on North Bridge Street and the family will be receiving visits for the balance on the week. Evening visitation and services will be at his mother’s Home—24-3 Douglass Ave, Bernardsville, New Jersey 07924.

Donations may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, The American Cancer Society or the Joe Torre Fund for Children.
