"One's 40s are the old age of youth; 50s are the youth of old age."

Too damned true.

This does imply that ones 30s are the infancy of old age, which is hardly encouraging.

Honestly?????! That is beyond bizarre.

I just heard it quoted this morning on the BBC World Service News.

Did I get the quote right?

Maybe your teacher heard it, too, and rushed to google it and present it to the class.

Oh, yes, it's right. :3 S'matter of fact, it was in our textbook, right above another quote of his declaring that music should not imitate truth (which is what we were focusing on.)

Yet there it was. X3

"50s are the youth of old age"

or the start of post-adolescence.

I find that I like to go to rock shows like the String Cheese at Denver's Fillmore, as they generally start at 6:00 pm and end by midnight. Too often the lead band starts at 10 (one hour past my bedtime) and end at 2:00, three hours before my alarm goes off. At 55, my body just does not ake well to less than 6 hours sleep anymore. and metabolize alchohol--hello vitamin B-1. Otherwise I am in a fog all day. However, that does make me a cheap date!

Well, I'll just have to see, but I feel as if, and have said, that one's late thirties are the old end of young and one's forties are the the young end of middle-aged. I don't know from one's fifties.
