Fine Gifts
Jun. 1st, 2008 01:32 pmIt was great to see several of our "Clarion Diego" ("San Clarion"?) '07 students at Wiscon! One of them,
redcrowkater, gave me an exquisite handmade book. (Is there anything she can't do?!) I am gobsmacked - can't believe I own something so lovely, now! It even matches my wedding ring. Like Adam Lambsbreath with his liddle mop, I will probably put it up on a display shelf and continue writing on the backs of old envelopes . . . but maybe not. Such gifts must be honored.
I will also be forever grateful to
helen_keeble for the M&S Earl Grey from London, and to [oh crap I've lost her LJ name!!!] for not one, not two, but three bags of "SchoolKrijt" (yeah, it looks like pieces of blackboard chalk!) licorice from Amsterdam. No troubles will be too much for me, now that I have these powerful stimulants. Thanks for your generosity!
I will also be forever grateful to

Date: 2008-06-01 07:42 pm (UTC)I love Earl Grey tea--in fact, it would not be inaccurate to say that my writing is largely fueled by Earl Grey and chai. I appreciate the good ones, from the highly perfumed French Mariage Freres Earl Grey to the bergamot high of the tonier Engish brands. But I harbor a fondness, on a day-to-day, I-don't-much-care-what-kind-of-Earl-Grey-it-is basis, for good old Marks & Sparks Earl Grey ordinaire. Also PG Tips and Yorkshire Gold, in winter, when the going gets really rough. I am not a tea snob. I'll even drink orange pekoe in a pinch.
But now I won't have to. I can embark on our travels with a lovely store of novel-fuel, thanks to Helen.
