dreaming aphrodite
Jul. 16th, 2008 11:02 pmColorful dreams this morning of lying in bed in an airplane with a plate glass picture window at our feet, looking down at landscape - fields, towns, stone cottages, all in dim greens and greys and browns while it banked to land. Then a foot-high stone statue of Aphrodite in a niche, more primitive than not, with round breasts and belly. She was also a lively, attractive young black woman with long braids, and a white wolf who asked me my wish. No fool, and knowing she was a symbol, I said, "I want to love you and be loved by you."
Then the alarm went off.
Then the alarm went off.

Date: 2008-07-17 07:37 am (UTC)I had this dream some time ago, which I can best describe as being like experiencing an alternate version of Terri's poem "Night Journey". Only in the desert, an encounter with a Desert Green Man, and I was standing there, facing this incredible man of creosote and palo verde and cacti and deep, deep musk.
"What do you want?" he asked me.
And I know I told him, but for the life of me, I can't remember what.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:37 pm (UTC)(Last night I dreamt that I was asleep in a gabled cottage with Russian carvings, and that the whole neighborhood -- in reality I do live in the sort of place that gets vocal at night -- woke me up with cries of delight. I went to the window and saw that confetti-colored snowflakes were falling from the sky. They looked like tiny origami, and when I tasted one I discovered they were made of sugar paper. My neighbors had climbed to the roof to watch the spectacle, and at my bequest threw down a rope so that I could climb up to join them. from that vantage I looked down into the back yard and saw that it was filled with fireflies.)
