. . . to the first person to shout "Book, ho!" when they sight the new paperback of Delia Sherman's Changeling in an actual bookstore! I hear it's out and everything, but have yet to see one myself.

Actually, last time I called [livejournal.com profile] deliasherman's cell phone, she was signing copies to leave for customers of Porter Square Books in Cambridge. So I guess she's seen it.

But then, she's the author. What about the rest of us??

I, too, saw it - I believe at the Barnes & Noble in Chestnut Hill.

o excellent.

Have you watched Sandy's YouTube (2 posts back), btw? You'll laugh hard!

Lovely to see you & Mike at R'con. Congratulations to you both.

Don't try to distract us with YouTube'n'gossip; you owe [livejournal.com profile] adelynne an extra ration of rum. We're watching...

Yes, of course! That's "extra" as in more than the ration she already got . . . .

And you a compatriot of Lewis Carroll's.

...and not just a compatriot: curiously linked. I grew up in Oxford, believing him to be an entirely Oxford man; then I moved to the north-east, got a residency in Sunderland and discovered him to be just as much a Sunderland man. As witness Bryan Talbot's astonishing Alice in Sunderland, in which I myself get to play a bit-part...

Alas, my shiny new desktop doesn't have a set of speakers hooked up, so I haven't looked yet. I shall when the opportunity presents itself.

Thank you! It was great to see both of you, as well. And perhaps when we meet again, I'll claim that rum ration. ;)

No, I won't be doing that. I will make her do that when she gets back. She'll be thrilled. Thank you, whoever you are.

That would be the other Cambridge, then, I guess (the one in Mass. rather than the one I'm sitting in in England)? or do you and D now have a teleport (which would be very cool)?

Science Fiction Bokhandeln in Malmö, Sweden has it! I know that for a fact since one of them's reserved for my boss there and she got all happy when she got it! =)

Coolness! There's going to be a Swedish edition of the book one of these days: my first Foreign Right on CHANGELING. I'm very excited.

There already is, in hardback. It's called "Neef och bortbytingen" (Neef and the changeling). We carry that one as well. =)

I wouldn't want to spoil anything but- it's beautiful! Has the original cover but (of course) Sweedish text.

You know, a captain who really wanted to motivate her crew would nail a doubloon to the mizzenmast for the first person to spot the book.

Sorry, I pre-ordered it on Amazon and haven't been near a bookstore recently. And I got it ages ago, maybe 10 days? (Time slows for me in July because if I'm not working I tend to spend three to five hours a day watching the Tour de France on TV every morning.)

Is preordering good for authors? I feel somewhat guilty for not supporting a local bookstore (which we kind of don't have any more anyhow) and using energy for home delivery, but it's so much easier...so I'm wondering how my shopping habits impact the market. If they do.
