[livejournal.com profile] rozk's journal alerted me to a new BBC TV production starring Helen Mirren as Elizabeth I, with Jeremy Irons as Leicester. Many pixels (this is what one says instead of "much ink," yes?) on this if you google their names - including an interview with MIrren filming in Vilnius (my Grandma Rose's hometown!), and another from the Times, both with a few photos. I thought Irons' Antonio in last year's film of Merchant of Venice was superb, and the online photo w/Mirren looks like he's got it down cold here. I've no idea when/if this will come to the States - will someone please tell me if it does??

In other news: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling for asking for posters of the new Spanish Swordspoint (A Punta de Espada)! It evoked a response from an anonymous Spaniard (Luis?) telling us you can buy prints of the cover art on the artist, Alejandro TerĂ¡n's, website. Click on Editions to order - or on Galery to see the new piece and more of his terrific art. The Espada cover is indicated as a stretch of blood-splashed steel....

I have to say that the cover art reminds me of Vincent (http://cloudff7.chez.tiscali.fr/images/imagesff7/vincent.jpg) from Final Fantasy VII, except with a sword instead of a gun. (That's not a bad thing, just a somewhat amusing coincidence.)

Every time I read a British news article, I'm struck by how different the tone is from that of most American journalism. Thanks for that link.

See my post of 9/26 for its actual origins . . . (Hey, Theo! Are you a Final Fantasy fan?).

*nods* I checked out the Swordspoint page when you linked it earlier, but I think it was the red cloak in the Spanish edition cover art that really triggered the association.

I wonder if it was subliminally inspired by the short story "Red Cloak" that appears at the end of the Bantam reissue of Swordspoint?
