ellenkushner: (or What You Will)
Since I couldn't get the insert to play on my response to [livejournal.com profile] rosenhaus' comment in my last post, I'll print it up here:

Find Out What It Means To Me

President Bush bid his final farewell to the White House press corps on Tuesday. “Through it all,” he told reporters gathered in the briefing room, “I have respected you.” Really? Let’s look at the record.

Thanks to everyone over 9 who still came to see me in The Klezmer Nutcracker at Vital Theatre! To those who were too scared of little kids - or who loved it and are ready for more - Vital is premiering a new adult play, LOOKING FOR THE PONY, tonight, with discounts available for the month here. "Eloisa is finally ready to leave a lifeless career in finance to pursue a childhood dream when her sister Lauren is diagnosed with breast cancer . . . . As funny as it is heart-breaking, LOOKING FOR THE PONY is a rollercoaster ride through treatment, ambition, loss and acceptance."

As you may recall, I was blown away by Stew's Broadway show, Passing Strange - here's my May 2008 post, with links. The show is really about an artist's attempts (not always successful) to come of age - and if you come from any family, culture or ethnic group where "our kind" doesn't do "that stuff" (whatever "us" and "that" may be), it resonates. I loved it so much I took Terri Windling & her fiancee when they were here, and she'd been hoping to take her step-daughter when she came for the wedding - but it had closed. Desolation!

But wait! Spike Lee has filmed Passing Strange. It's at Sundance right now, and, with any luck, will be at a theatre (or channel) near you for all to enjoy and be inspired by. Loud, loud cheers.
