All photos taken from Klezmer Nutcracker rehearsals at Vital Theatre between Monday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 3. It's a wonder what a little paint (and rehearsal and thread and glue) can do:

1) The Queen of Sheba & her Attendants (& Sara) BEFORE

2) The Queen of Sheba & Attendants . . . and the set is coming along:

1) Spinning around the Tree of Life BEFORE

2) The Tree of Life after the painting crew pulls an all-nighter!

Set looks delicious. It's pretty exciting to see it coming together, even all the way from LJ.

Oh, good! I know a lot of people aren't in NYC and can't see the show, so I wanted all to be able to enjoy the process with me, at least. Glad you like it! Wish my camera weren't quite so crappy....

Hah, but I do live in NYC... am that quiet girl you met who modeled the tshirt.
Still, this isn't really a part of the process that the audience gets to see. There's a certain magic to watching a bunch of people reading lines metamorphose in a fully fledged production. Must be doubly so when it's your own work.

Yes, I know you- and I have a very nice photo of you at City Bakery with us, too! It was so lovely to get to meet you - thanks for coming to my reading, as well. I hope you had fun, and that we'll see you again.

And, yes - that is precisely what I'm trying to document for everyone on LJ. I have tons more photos - but putting them up on LJ is such a big deal - eventually I want to get them all up on Flickr or even on my blog, nicely annotated so people can follow the progression of what is really an amazing experience for an author & first-time playwright.

SO BEAUTIFUL. I just ... have no words. And, obviously, am incredibly psyched about seeing this!

Oh, thank you! I feel the photos don't do it justice -but I love documenting the progression. I'm glad they look good to you.

You'll love the show. Come to one of the 7 pm ones.

Wait--does this mean you WON'T be around after a Sunday matinee?

The whole cast comes out to sign programs for the kids after each show. But after each 11 am performance we then have to get ready for the 1 pm show, so not a huge amont of hanging out time. A little more leisure after the 1 pm shows.

Is that what you're asking?

Yes, thanks! Fortunately, our tickets are for a 1 pm, so I'm looking forward to saying hello then. (Although I wouldn't put it past my son, who's six, to become acutely bashful and try to drag me home by the arm immediately.) We're all really looking forward to the show, it'll be our big Hanukkah treat!

Bashful kids our specialty! Actually, all the kids are invited to the lobby afterwards to get their programs autographed, so he'll be in good company. What day are you coming?
