People asking "Where can I buy your books?"

What on earth do they mean by that?

Where do we usually buy books, folks?

This is particularly annoying in the age of internet, where, even when they're self-published, the answer is always "Amazon."

LOL! I wonder what she'd make of this 'chat', then, me being an author whom I bet neither you nor she ever even heard of before. Does that make me real? Or not real? Or am I pretending to be me? Or am I me pretending to be an author? Or what? :-D (Wow. This just took a existential turn, didn't it?)

Hah! Pretending to be an author, most like! Otherwise, how could you have time to be commenting on blogs? Or maybe you're the ghost of authors past, making good on your retirement.

You might be on to something there. This current rewrite is dragging its heels far more than it has any right to do, so maybe it IS all a pretense. But then, what would we call all those copies of books with my name on them? Ah! 'Figments of my very overactive imagination', of course! (And why are men in clean, white coats walking up the path to my front door?)
