Hope-in-the-Mist will be published 10 July 2009 at Readercon in Burlington, Massachusetts. Swanwick will be there, his usual affable, erudite & interstitially entertaining self, and Mirrlees will be the "Memorial Guest of Honor" (the "live" ones will be Elizabeth Hand & Greer Gilman, herself no slouch at expounding on Mirrlees & her work).

Oooo, shiny! I'm teaching Mirrlees after I finish _The King of Elfland's Daughter_, and I would *love* a copy of that.

Hm ... maybe I should go to ReaderCon to get a copy direct. :)
I think I am missing something, though: is ReaderCon invite-only for programming? Or have all the deadlines passed? Bah, will have to explore the web-page some more ....

Hmm, sounds interesting. I've intrigued and plotted to get Lud-in-the-Mist translated into French, with no results so far. I expect it's too conspicuously lacking in volume(s) (anything under three volumes does not really warrant reader attention, as per modern fantasy code).

And don't get me started on The Worm Ouroboros.

I should mention that I have arranged for the late Ms Mirrlees to attend Readercon in person, and will be interviewing her there.

Not just anybody could make this happen.

Knowing you as I do, Ellen, I'm sure you'll want to get a front-row seat.

I'm not sure people will really want to know about her books, in that case. She probably has more important things to tell us about, considering where she's coming from to attend! O________o'
