The magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (a.k.a. "F&SF"), whose current ("April/May") issue contains my new Riverside story, "'A Wild and a Wicked Youth,'" is, apparently, available by the issue as an e-book. Who knew? I know some of you signed up for a full year's paper subscription already, so as not to miss the story on the newsstands. I want to thank you for supporting the magazine, which has meant so much to so many readers and writers over the years. I remember getting my own copies back in college, and having my head blown open by the amazing fiction that kept appearing in my mailbox. I wish you the same joy, inspiration, and excitement that I got from those subscriptions, and more.

Hey, everybody who signed up for my Twitter (EllenKushner) - thanks! And welcome to my newfound ability to deny the laws of punctuation in the service of squeezing a few more letters into that little room....

Thanks for that link; reading an unexpected St Vier story over breakfast was quite a treat.

I picked up that issue a few weeks ago. Love your story. I hadn't bought F&SF for about a year, and the excellent stories and the editiorial reminded me of what I was missing, so I've subscribed.

That's terrific! (If there's space on the subscription form, tell editor Gordon Van Gelder I sent you. There's an amicable competition going on to see who recommends the most subscribers. No idea what the prize is, but I want it!!)

I can do that! I've a pile of mail in my car which includes the subscription. I'll add a note and put it in a new envelope. Hope you get the prize! :)

Wahooo!!! You can probably just scribble it on the outside of the envelope, she said thriftily.

Oh, thank goodness! I was going crazy over not being able to find the magazine anywhere. (I live in LA, shouldn't this be easier?)

I subscribed to F&SF all through high school (we're talking the '60s here) and college and for quite a few years after that, but somehow along the way I stopped reading it. I think I just may have to subscribe again... : )

It makes me crazy but learning to not punctuate correctly. Will resist leet-speak long as possible.

When I first moved to this small town I found it(1) at the convenience store* next to the Laundromat. Immediately felt better connected.
Growing up in a small town, Analog and F&SF and IF/GALAXY made everything better. They, and Boy's Life, were my first subscriptions to anything.

*Also at the Co-op, I soon learned.

I've read it twice... I don't understand Richard and Crispin's last exchange. Did he finally realize that Crispin was a bit souless?

Thank you! I'm not ignoring you; just haven't found right time to dig out story & remember what it was it says.... Soon, I hope!

Oh no worries :) I'm thrilled you responded at all!

(I've read it twice again. I think, for some strange reason, I've begun to understand Alec's character better!)
