I'm a big fan of Dylan Meconis' online graphic novels. But I have trouble reading comix online on my screen. So I'm delighted to learn (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] pamola!) that the wonderful Bite Me ("Vive les Vamps!") is now available in folding version, suitable for bathtub, subway & kitchen table reading. So Go Buy Bite Me!

Happy new discovery: THE JIMMIES - a hot, tight band for the preschool set. I think my favorite video so far is It's Cool to be Uncool - with Bedhead a close second. I suspect this is one kids' album you won't mind hearing the 501st time the little one hits Play.....

Finally, the enterprising [livejournal.com profile] shadesong is raffling off some very cool stuff to raise $ to send her smart, adorable daughter (whom I've met at Readercon) to a special Summer Program for, well, smart kids.

Enjoy!

I have had a lot of trouble reading Bite Me on screen -- more than most comics -- and pretty much gave up on it. But on your recommendation I shall un-give up on it :)

Oh my gosh awesome! I've loved this comic for years and have been waiting for a chance to buy it.

I know what people are going to be getting for Christmas from me!

And you will be much-loved for being the one who finds the Cool Stuff and distributes it....

I'd never heard of Bite Me but I snatched my copy right up! Thankfully I only have moderate discomfort reading comics online, so I am looking forward to looking over Family Man as well.

I really like Family Man, but it isn't as fanciful as Bite Me. But Dylan updated her style to be less comic, more realistic. And we get to see more Luther (shouldn't all comics be about conflicted philosophers?).

I *adore* FAMILY MAN, and hope someday I can take it in the bathtub. I'm astonished by how many great comics exist online. Not surprised that they're there - who could resist getting their work up and before the public immediately? - but that publishers aren't snatching them up! Well, it's a whole new world for me; I look forward to learning more.

Thank you so much! :)

Elayna's courses at Explo include guitar and songwriting, molecular gastronomy, two forms of dance, improv acting, musical theater, Japanese culture, and found object art. You just can't get diversity like that anywhere else. And going to Explo last year was just tremendous for her self-confidence; she came out last year, which she never would have done had Explo not had this atmosphere of total acceptance and support.

I gush. I love this place.
