Shopping and Doing Good at the same time - who can resist? Let me help you:

Readers of these pages may recall the hunt for John Stump, creator of the notorious Faeries Aire and Death Waltz . Not only did we find him, but we learned that, to help support the aging genius's healthcare, a friend, [livejournal.com profile] poettomm, is offering handsome laminated 11x 17 versions of 2 of Stump's most popular pieces. I received mine in the mail last month, and they are truly glorious. Every music-lover on your list will want these! Especially your kids' band/orchestra/chorus teacher. Details here, or write to poettom at yahoo dot com. So many people have been xeroxing these and taping them to their doors for years - it's great to have something that not only benefits Stump himself, but will not fray at the edges. Spaghetti (cooked) will probably stick to it.

Carols for Dancing by Renaissonics
It's an album - it's a radio show (hosted by me) - it's a live concert in Cambridge, Mass. on Dec. 20th. While preparing the radio show (available for listening online with RealPlayer) I listened to the CD about 150 times, and I could listen to 150 more. All instrumental, no singing; light, delectable arrangements, some improvised, of medieval and renaissance dances from all over Europe, many of which were later adapted as Christmas carols - the perfect thing to have on stereo while wrapping gifts, writing endless cards, or entertaining guests - and even better to have on your i-pod while being assaulted in public by the 9000th rendition of "Nutcracker Suite" or "Jingle Bells." Here's the complete playlist from the CD. This really is "not available in any store" - you can only buy it online from WGBH (and from the band at live gigs).

Need something to decorate the walls (or your fair body)? Terri Windling's Endicott Studio is many things - including a quarterly journal of mythic arts, whose yummy Autumn Issue devoted to Harvest and other Feast is out for the holidays . . . . It's a big labor of love, and is supported by donations - and in return for a very reasonable sum, you receive your choice of Terri's remarkable prints! They've now added an Endicott T-Shirt to their thank-you gifts. 'Nuff said?

(You might also want to remember to make your Amazon purchases by clicking through the Endicott homepage, since Terri devotes Endicott's Amazon revenues to charities for children at risk. You can actually bookmark Endicott's Amazon link from their "How to Help" page.

And what about cards?? you may ask. Try Bryn Mawr College Library for a fantastic array including but not limited to mummers, Beatrix Potter, and an armadillo being chased by a cherub.

This just in:
