We are watching the entire old Granada TV series of Brideshead Revisited. I'm amazed at how much of it got into The Fall of the Kings, considering how different they are. I was passionate about that series first time around; I guess it just got into my authorial DNA.

I love that version. Everything about it -- from Jeremy Irons to the gorgeous Oxford photography to Anthony Andrews (still my favourite Percival Blakeney after all these years) as an utterly heartbreaking Sebastian. Lovely!

So yes. I actually dreamed, in those distant days, of taking up a collection to pay for the filming of the scene where they actually, um, embraced . . . .

Watching it now, it is so clear so often that they just have.

Oh, I watched the series on DVD for the first time a year ago or so (finally!) and absolutely loved it. Though I haven't watched the recent movie version yet, I know it can't beat the golden JeremyIrons/AnthonyAndrews TV series.
It's funny how some impressive things remain and affect you so much without even noticing.

By the way, I found a small "Riverside series fanbook" at Comic Market (the largest doujinshi con in Japan) last week.

Thank you for reminding me that I must own this - it's now in my Amazon cart, waiting for the next time I can afford to buy. :)

Anthony Andrews *sigh*
I had a crush on him forEVER thanks to his Ivanhoe (and as pointed out, his Percival Blakeney was superb as well).
