The story is finished. It's told in alternating paragraphs from two points of view, Alec's & Sofia. I couldn't resist throwing them up on http://www.wordle.net to see how they'd come out:

Wordle: The Man with the Knives: Campione Wordle: The Man with the Knives: Sofia

I apologize for torturing you with unpublished work. I'll let you know as soon as it's sold. And I'm hoping to talk Delia into reading it with me in counterpoint when we do our NYRSF reading here on Dec. 8.)

"I apologize for torturing you with unpublished work."

That has to be the nicest apology I've seen in awhile.

It becomes more torturous if you give us part of the story and make us wait a few years for the ending. That happened once with an unpublished story I heard in a reading.

Some kinds of torture are worth it.

But maybe you could record your reading? *wistful*

So nifty! I have to stop myself from going and playing with Wordle ALL THE TIME. Because it is so very awesome. I love how technology and algorithms and randomising elements can be used to create art. Possibly because I am not a programmer, and so it's INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM MAGIC to me.

Yum!

Oooh!! Even the styles of wordle-type-fonts and colors look like their different pov's!! And I can tell you right now, Alec's looks depressing as all HELL. *squeal!!* I love it! I can't wait to read it! Where will it be??

...

...Ooh, you're good. Crafty. Quasi-evil. But good.

Of course I'll read it with you, my darling. Keeps me from having to write something appropriate.

Nice try, hon - it's only 5000 words; you'll have to bring something of your own to fill out the rest of the time! We'll think of something fun & interactive, shall we?

Crafty, Quasi-Evil but Good. Yep. That would be me.

The story hasn't been sold yet, though I've started it on its rounds - I'll give a loud shout when it finds a home.

Oh, good~! I ache to get my hands on this one. Piece by piece, I'll get the whole story of everyone's lives someday... Even if it means shelling out for another magazine subsciption. Muhaha!

I can't believe this hasn't been snapped up already though! If I were an editor, I'd have my nose to the wind for these kinds of stories all the time! Boo on magazines for slacking.
