restaurant recc. at LAcon
Aug. 24th, 2006 06:39 pmI thought the Thai food would be superior out here, and boy was I right! John Dumas took me for a little spin in his Miata convertible (had to get that in here!) and we fetched up at a little joint in a stripmall 1.8 miles from the convention:
PAT'S HOUSE: Home of Thai Cuisine
12541 S. Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA
714-534-4490
Food was amazingly good! Lunch special $5.95, Dinner special $9.95. They deliver within a 3-mile radius. Closed Sunday. Best part was you walk in the door and there's a big sign on the wall saying, "Long Live the King!" It's not by some fantasy buff - it's the King of Thailand. There's a photo of him and his consort.
And if you don't like Thai, there was a *very* good-looking little Mexican joint next to it, and also a Japanese place that was doing such a landmine business on lunchtime sushi delivery that they told us we'd have to wait 1/2 hour for our order. . . . The Fruit Stand down the road (across from the Clarion Hotel) also has genuine local produe. Check out the pears.
