Saturday had brunch with some friends from NJ, and finally met my "fairy godson" (who loved being the center of attention, no matter what his Mom says!) A delightful child, who seems to be ticklish in the ear: all you have to do to send him into fits of giggles is to speak words with complicated syllables. Here we all are. Asked Daddy to elucidate on the connections he claimed to see between Thomas the Rhymer and the Swordspoint books - most people think they're worlds apart, can barely believe they're written by the same person. Eric said that both have, at their hearts, a tension between Aristocracy/Birth and Talent/Skill.

Wow. I think he's right.

You are indeed right that he loves being the center of attention... he just wasn't, to the degree he's used to. There's never been anyone around who came close to making him compete for his Daddy's attention - me included. :-) Not that its a bad idea for him to get used to having to share before we decide whether he'll have a sibling. -jess
