Thanks for all your kind and encouraging words about The Privilege of the Sword! I'll keep posting about it as the days (and weeks and months...oh, god give me patience...) progress toward publication. Raging "Swordspoint" world completists have noted that there's one short story that is pretty much impossible to find anywhere: "The Tragedy of King Alexander the Stag" by Delia Sherman, in A Distant Soil #29, ed. and illustrated by Colleen Doran (Image Comics, 1999), takes place about 800 years before The Fall of the Kings, and has never been reprinted (yet!). We do have, if not a basement full of them, at least enough to share with LJ friends - and also quite a few of ADS #28 with my old story "Red Cloak" in there, also illustrated by Colleen. If you're interested in acquiring same, our invaluable asst. Davey gives instructions on how to order:

Anyone interested in acquiring a copy of ADS #29 with Delia Sherman's story "The Tragedy of King Alexander the Stag" illustrated by Colleen Doran, should please send $5 (check, money order, or even cash if you trust the USPS that much) to:

Ellen Kushner

Please make sure that your name and mailing address are clearly noted in the request, and make checks payable to "Delia Sherman."

If you also want a copy of ADS #28 with Ellen's story "Red Cloak" illustrated by Colleen Doran, please add another $2 ($7 total for both issues).

All copies will be signed with author's name(s).
NB: This is for mailing in the U.S. only! For International, see below.

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh! *hyperventilates*

I already have the "Red Cloak" issue, but I was never able to find "The Tragedy of King Alexander the Stag" in my comic book store. Ooooh.

I remember how excited I was when I first saw "Red Cloak" and the other Riverside stories reprinted in Swordpoint. Any chance of your other lovely short stories in all those volumes of "Years Best Fantasy & Horror" being collected and reprinted into a short story collection? *_*

Funny you should ask . . . I was approached a couple years back by a small press about a short story collection, but it ended up falling through. I frankly don't think I have enough short stories under my belt yet - my output is embarrassingly slender - but of course if someone wanted to issue a collection I would probably not demur.

And I'll certainly keep you posted!
