Looking forward to the new Upstairs Downstairs tonight on PBS!  This quote in the NYTimes from  screenwriter Heidi Thomas also weirdly sums up our feelings as editors of the new Bordertown anthology:

One of the things that was very nerve-racking was the thought that we'd have two audiences: a new audience that wasn't even born when the first one went out and the die-hard fans who would be scrutinizing it and looking for evidence of fidelity.  If we were competing with anything, we were competing with the specter of the original.

So glad everyone seems to like ours, so far!

(If there's a disgruntled hater of the new out there, I - and Miss Thomas - don't want to know about it,)

Oooh...I don't know if I read the Midori Snyder story before either. :D Thanks!

I still want to hug this book every so often. :)
We all know what I think of how you guys successfully bridged generations!

P.S., sent you a business-related email a few days back, dying to know what you think. I'd be lying if I didn't say the new Bordertown wasn't at least a little inspirational. :) (I think what I just said made sense....)

I went ahead and sent my own ARC on tour--seemed the best way to both make it do its job as an ARC and to get to keep it in the end. Already have enough takers to see it through to release day, at which point it can come home without guilt. :-)

(I figure the occasional bad review simply lends legitimacy to the good ones, and makes it clear it's not just my mom and my best friends reading the book in question--not that I don't appreciate my mom and my friends!)

That's pretty much the whole ball game -- competing
with the original, even if that original is you! It's
the "Paul McCartney and Wings" dilemma!
